Terms of Use

Welcome to CollegeLoop. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of our mobile application (the "App"). By creating an account or using CollegeLoop, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Please read them carefully before using the App.

1. About CollegeLoop

CollegeLoop is a verified social network built exclusively for Indian college students. Access is restricted to individuals with a valid, active institutional college email address. CollegeLoop is not a general-purpose social network — it is a closed, college-scoped community platform.

2. Eligibility

To use CollegeLoop you must:

  • Be a currently enrolled student at a recognised Indian college or university
  • Hold an active institutional email address from a supported college domain
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Not be barred from using the App under applicable Indian law

By using the App, you confirm that you meet all eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration and Verification

  • Account creation requires a valid institutional college email address. OTP-based email verification is mandatory.
  • Your college is automatically assigned based on your email domain and cannot be changed after verification.
  • Only one account per college email is permitted. Duplicate accounts will be suspended.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account session.
  • If your institutional email becomes inactive, your account will be automatically suspended within 24 hours.
  • You must notify us immediately at support@collegeloop.in if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4. Community Feed

4.1 Posting

  • You may post text (max 500 characters), images (up to 4 per post, max 10MB each, JPEG/PNG), and short videos (max 60 seconds, 100MB, MP4/MOV) to your college's campus feed.
  • All posts are visible to all verified students of your college.
  • You may delete your own posts at any time. Deletion permanently removes all associated likes and comments.
  • Cross-college content is not supported in this version. Your feed is scoped to your college only.

4.2 Rate Limits for New Accounts

During your first 7 days on CollegeLoop:

  • Maximum 3 posts per day
  • Maximum 10 comments per day

These limits are automatically lifted after 7 days of account age.

4.3 Post Actions

  • Likes — Toggle likes on posts. Authors receive push notifications for likes.
  • Comments — Comments are one level deep (no nested replies). Maximum 300 characters per comment.
  • Reporting — You may report any post that violates these Terms. 10 reports from distinct users trigger automatic hiding pending admin review.
  • Sharing — Posts can be shared within the App only. External sharing is not supported in this version.

5. Confession Board

5.1 Anonymous Posting

  • Confessions are text-only (max 300 characters) and are posted anonymously under a randomly assigned Ghost ID.
  • Your real identity is never displayed publicly in connection with a confession.
  • All confessions are scanned by the Google Perspective API before going live. Content scoring above the toxicity threshold is held for review or automatically rejected.
  • You may post a maximum of 3 confessions per day, with a minimum 1-hour cooldown between submissions.

5.2 Moderation

  • Any user may report a confession. 5 reports trigger automatic hiding pending admin review.
  • Admins may approve, delete, warn, or ban accounts in response to moderation actions.
  • Ban durations: 7 days for a first offence, permanent for repeat offences.
  • While confessions appear anonymous publicly, your account is privately linked to every confession you submit. This linkage may be used for moderation and, where required, legal compliance.

5.3 Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content of your confessions. The anonymous display does not absolve you of legal or platform-level responsibility for content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

6. Follow System and Direct Messages

6.1 Following

  • You may follow any verified student within your college. Following is one-way and requires no approval.
  • You may unfollow at any time. The other user will not be notified.
  • Cross-college following is not supported in this version.

6.2 Direct Messages

  • DMs are unlocked only between users who mutually follow each other.
  • If either user unfollows the other, existing messages are preserved but new messages are blocked.
  • DMs are one-on-one only. Group chats are not supported in this version.
  • Text messages are limited to 500 characters. Image messages accept a single image up to 10MB (JPEG/PNG).

6.3 Blocking

  • You may block any user. Blocking removes the mutual follow, hides the chat, and prevents re-following.
  • Blocked users cannot view your profile or posts.
  • You may report any conversation to the admin moderation queue.

7. Intellectual Property

  • All App content including design, logos, code, and copy is the property of CollegeLoop and is protected under applicable intellectual property laws.
  • You retain ownership of content you create and post but grant CollegeLoop a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, and distribute your content within the App for the purpose of operating the platform.
  • You may not copy, reproduce, scrape, or redistribute any content from the App without prior written consent.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use CollegeLoop to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Post content that is obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, or sexually explicit
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your college identity
  • Post spam, unsolicited promotions, or repetitive content
  • Attempt to circumvent verification, rate limits, or moderation systems
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise interfere with the App or its infrastructure
  • Share another user's private information without their consent
  • Use the confession board to target, identify, or harass specific individuals
  • Post content that violates any applicable Indian law including the Information Technology Act, 2000

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination, and may be reported to relevant authorities where required by law.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

CollegeLoop reserves the right to remove any content, issue warnings, or suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available." CollegeLoop makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the App's availability, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • CollegeLoop is not liable for any content posted by users on the feed, confession board, or in DMs.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed ₹1,000 or the amount directly related to the claim, whichever is lower.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold CollegeLoop harmless from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your use of the App, or your content.

13. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@collegeloop.app.

CollegeLoop reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or any other reason we deem appropriate. Account termination does not entitle you to any compensation.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
